Sherlock Holmes

Saya ingat saya pernah menulis tentang film ini dulu, bagaimana saya sangat menunggu-nunggu film ini rilis. And you know, I watched it yesterday, and it worth all the waiting!

I give 7 to 8 out of 10 for this movie.

Plotnya padat, tepat dan hampir tanpa premis awal sama sekali. Waktumu tak akan terbuang dengan pendahuluan panjang tentang siapa dan bagaimana penjahatnya, semuanya langsung tersaji di awal, singkat, padat dan jelas!

Untuk fan berat serial Sherlock Holmes mungkin tidak akan terlalu suka dengan apa yang mereka lakukan terhadap karakter Holmes. Poin utama Holmes seperti strong deduction, too logical, untidy, not so interest with un-important information etc, tetap dipertahankan dengan beberapa penambahan dalam penampilan seperti menghilangnya ponco flanel dan topi khas Holmes, muka yang kurang inggris (Robert Downey itu Amerika banget deh), terlalu berisi -Holmes seorang pecandu, dan pecandu jelas susah gemuk- , sampai kelebihan tambahan dalam martial art. Penggambaran cerita dalam film ini pun mengambil sudut pandang Holmes sendiri. Cara yang gegabah, karena hampir semua cerita Holmes diceritakan oleh Watson, tentu akan berbeda jika melihat segala sesuatunya dari sang objek cerita sendiri. Film ini adalah film Holmes pertama yang saya tonton dan jelas memberikan nuansa berbeda terhadap karakter Holmes yang saya tangkap dari serialnya.

Dari sisi filmnya sendiri, ini juga film Guy Ritchie pertama yang saya tonton. Dan sejujurnya, sepertinya dia bukan salah satu favorit saya. Pemakaian perbandingan antara deduksi Holmes dalam gerak lambat dan kemudian implementasinya dalam pengambilan gambar normal memang menarik, tapi bikin enek juga kalo kebanyakan. Setting Inggris saat revolusi industri jelas menarik, tapi penggambaran Londonnya mengingatkan saya pada setting film Sweeney Todd. Dan satu hal, mengapa semua film yang mengambil gambar di wilayah London terutama di sekitaran sungai Thames selalu terlihat suram??? coba ingat-ingat Harry Potter, V for Vendetta, National Treasure : Book of Secret, Fantastic 4: The Rise od Silver Surfer dkk, apakah ini bawaan tempatnya? atau memang akan terlihat bagus kalau terlihat lebih suram?

Komentar saya untuk cast singkat:
1. Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes terlalu berisi dan berotot, kurang aura Englishman-nya, walau slengean dan aksennya lumayan terbeli oleh saya
2. Jude Law as John Watson terlalu kurus, terlalu ganteng dan terlihat banyak mengeluh
3. Rachel Mc Adams as irene Adler, Saya tak protes dengan acting Mc Adams, saya protes dengan karakter Irene Adler yang ditampilkan. First, she's not a criminal for God's sake! Second, she's not Holmes love interest, people has too much interpretation of Holmes-Adler relationship. He honor her not in the romantic kind of way!

That's all about Sherlock Holmes. I'll edit this post if I have another thing to write. This is a great movie to close the year 2009, the very good one Happy new year everyone

Kembali ke Pojok : nostalgia

Secara umum, tidak banyak yang berubah....

Hampir tiga tahun dari terakhir kali aku mengunjungi tempat ini. Tak ada yang berubah, hanya mungkin tata letak meja yang digeser dan dekorasi-dekorasi natal yang muncul di beberapa tempat. Aku langsung menuju satu sofa yang berada di pojok, dekat jendela dan menghadap ke pintu masuk, pojokku, tempatku berdiam setiap kali aku datang kesana. Tiga tahun berselang tapi ternyata ritual yang sama tetap kulakukan saat duduk di pojok itu: membuka laptop, online, memesan secangkir latte, menyumbat telinga dengan headphone dan berdiam disana entah untuk berapa lama. Tidak akan ada yang mengusik, bagaimanapun ini adalah pojokku...

Aku memandang keluar jendela, ke arah jalan raya ramai di luar sana. Kota ini hanya ribut saat akhir minggu, dan bukan penduduknyalah yang membuatnya ribut. Akhir minggu adalah waktu istirahat untuk semua orang. Istirahat bagi penduduk kota ini berarti diam di rumah, bermalasan dan nonton TV. Tapi untuk beberapa orang dari ibukota, istirahat itu diartikan sebagai "naik ke mobil, kita jalan-jalan ke bandung", maka tak heran jika plat B lah yang memenuhi jalan saat akhir minggu.

Perhatianku pada jalanan berkembang menjadi lamunan pada satu waktu kira-kira empat tahun lalu, satu percakapan yang terjadi tepat di tempat ini, di sofa ini, dengan satu orang yang saat itu selalu menemaniku mojok disini.

"kenapa kamu suka duduk disini?" tanyanya. Aku mengalihkan pandangan dari jalan kepadanya yang duduk di hadapanku.

"di sini? hmmm... karena saya bisa ngeliat kemana-mana dari sini" jawabku setelah berpikir sebentar. Dia mengangkat sebelah alisnya.

"untuk apa? toh selama disini matamu pasti terpaku ke layar laptop" cibirnya.

"yah, sekali-kali kan refreshing ngeliat yang lain-lain, lucu lagi... jadi bisa merhatiin orang-orang" kataku.

"merhatiin orang?" katanya.

"iya... sini deh... liat orang yang di sebelah pintu? dia itu selalu datang sekitar jam 3 sore hampir setiap hari... beli espresso dan duduk disitu sampai maghrib sambil baca buku, terus meja sebelah konter itu sering jadi arena arisannya ibu-ibu... berbagai macam ibu-ibu, terus kalau ngeliat keluar jendela... traffic jalanan bandung bisa keliatan, kalau ada yang baru dateng dan saya kenal... pasti langsung keliatan dari sini, tempat ini itu enak banget buat merhatiin macem-macem" balasku saat itu.

Saat itu dia memandangku dengan pandangan aneh sampai akhirnya dia tersenyum pahit,

"saya gak suka tempat ini" katanya kemudian.

"lho kenapa?" tanyaku.

"karena penglihatanmu selalu melewati saya".

Aku tak mengerti apa maksudnya saat itu. Kenapa dia berkata seperti itu? Dia selalu duduk di depanku, jelas aku pasti melihatnya. Percakapan itu adalah saat terakhir dia menemaniku mojok disini. Aku tetap tak mengerti apa maksud ucapannya sampai suatu saat sebuah notifikasi di facebook menyadarkanku, notifikasi bahwa dia baru saja mengganti status facebooknya dari 'single' ke 'in a relationship' dengan menyebutkan nama seseorang yang sangat kukenal.

Bingung, aku sangat bingung, apa maksudnya? kenapa gak bilang-bilang? dan kenapa aku merasa dikhianati? Aku merasa ditinggalkan, walau aku tak punya alasan untuk merasa begitu. Kami cuman teman... bukan???

Aku bertanya padanya tentu saja.

"kita cuman teman kan?" setengah hatiku ingin dia menjawab 'tidak' walau tak menemukan alasan yang tepat.

Jawabannya kala itu "tidak... kita teman, gak pake cuman"

Aku diam.

"walau saya pernah merasa lebih, pernah ingin jadi lebih, tapi rupanya kamu tidak begitu kan?" lanjutnya kemudian sambil tersenyum.

Aku diam, kali ini dengan rasa kaget dan kosong yang muncul bersamaan.

"kenapa gak bilang?" kataku.

"percuma, seperti yang saya bilang, penglihatan kamu selalu melewati saya"

Dan saat itulah aku mengerti. Saat sofa di hadapanku selalu terisi olehnya, aku tak terlalu merasakan signifikansi kehadirannya disana. Aku terlalu sibuk memperhatikan semua hal diluar sana, diluar kami berdua. Dan kemudian sofa itu kosong, dia tak lagi ada disana, dan kemudian pojok ini tak terasa istimewa lagi.

Empat tahun berselang. Sekarang aku melihat sofa kosong di hadapanku dan tersenyum. Dia menikah lusa, dengan orang yang sama yang namanya aku baca di facebook kala itu. Aku setengah berkhayal, kalau misalnya kala itu aku tak se-'buta' itu, mungkin lusa adalah pernikahanku juga. Aku hanya tersenyum. Sungguh khayalan yang tolol.

Mungkin aku terlalu merasa sentimentil, pengaruh nostalgia dari masa-masa kami bersama di pojok ini. Dan mungkin sedikit cemburu karena dia punya pasangan dan aku tidak. Sudahlah.... ini akhir tahun, besok natal, lusa dia menikah dan minggu depan sudah tahun baru. Liburan masih panjang, sangat sayang kalau habis untuk nostalgia melankolis.

Rabu malam saya membaca tweet Joko Anwar dimana dia menyebut Avatar sebagai keajaiban. kamis sore saya menontonnya dan saya setuju, Avatar memang sebuah keajaiban!

Pada awalnya banyak yang salah menyangka film ini sebagai versi movie live-action dari serial poouler Nickelodeon 'Avatar: legend of Aang'. Tapi bukan, ini adalah film berbeda. Film ini digarap oleh James Cameron, sedangkan avatar yang 'itu' akan mengambil judul The Last Airbender.

Cukup dengan avatar yang 'itu' bagaimana dengan Avatar yang ini? seperti yang Joko Anwar bilang dan yang saya bilang tadi, film ini keajaiban. James Cameron tidak terlalu membuang-buang waktu untuk membuat suatu religion seperti Star Wars dengan Jedi, atau suatu icon seperti Indiana Jones untuk membuat sebuah film yang luarbiasa, yang dilakukannya hanya membuat film: pintar, padat dan fenomenal.

Awalnya saya tidak terlalu menaruh perhatian pada film ini, manusia biru? Weleh.... Emangnya sekarang taun berapa?!?! Tapi ternyata manusia biru yang disebut Na'vi itulah yang memikat selama film berjalan, diluar pemandangan alam Pandora yang luarbiasa, juga robot-robot raksasa macam yang muncul dalam The Matrix Revolutions, juga bahasa planet yang tak jelas dan hal-hal lainnya. Sederhananya, semua hal dalam film ini benar-benar luarbiasa.

Absen bertahun-tahun setelah Titanic, James Cameron kembali dengan karya yang sangat tidak mengecewakan. Script Avatar yang sudah disiapkan jauh sebelum Titanic digarap, memerlukan waktu hampir satu setengah dekade sampai akhirnya bisa diwujudkan ke layar lebar. Tak tanggung-tanggung, produksinya menghabiskan biaya hampir $300 juta dan $200 juta untuk biaya distribusi, menjadikan Avatar resmi film termahal yang pernah ada (FYI, jumlah ini naik 50% dari budget film termahal sebelumnya). Yap, bapak yang satu ini memang tak tahu cara membuat film berbudget rendah, budget produksi filmnya selalu fantastis.

Apa yang membuat film ini mahal? Hanya satu hal: film ini miskin kenyataan! Hampir tigaperempat film adalah CGI, dan tentu saja bukan sembarang CGI. Selain menggunakan kamera khusus yang mensimulasikan penglihatan manusia, dalam pengarahannya sendiri Cameron memanfaatkan suatu teknologi CGI yang mampu merefleksikan lingkungan buatannya secara live dan real time, macam bermain virtual game saja. Cameron adalah sutradara pertama yang menggunakan teknik ini, dia bahkan mengundang Spielberg dan Lucas untuk melihatnya shooting dan mencoba teknologi baru ini. Hohoho... Peta film science fiction dan fantasi akan berubah gara-gara ini, menarik :)

Untuk membuat visualisasi Pandora beserta koloni tambang manusia di sana, crew film mengumpulkan jutaan foto hutan tropis dan kawasan pertambangan yang kemudian dimanipulasi dengan CGI untuk menghasilkan visualisasi Pandora yang diinginkan. Setelah lingkungan berhasil 'diciptakan' barulah mereka memulai shooting dengan para aktor, baik yang manusia maupun yang Na'vi. Urutannya dibalik, biasanya aktor berperan dulut baru lingkungan dimasukan dengan CGI, sekarang sebaliknya, dan hasilnya benar-benar keren! Untuk saya pribadi, Avatar adalah film fantasi paling keren saat ini, rekor sebelumnya dipegang oleh trilogi The Lord of The Rings, kelebihannya: Avatar hanya butuh satu film untuk membuat saya lupa keluar bioskop, TLOTR butuh tiga.

Baiklah, mungkin saya agak berlebihan, tapi tontonlah sendiri filmnya. Sedikit tips untuk yang akan menonton: belilah tiket online (karena dijamin ngantri), kalau nonton 3D tonton di Blitzmegaplex (karena 3D XXI tidak begitu oke), dan siapkan 3 jam kosong karena segitulah durasi filmnya (yah... gak akan kerasa juga tu 3 jam).

Trivia:
Avatar rilis di Indonesia lebih dulu dibanding USA, entah apa alasannya (saya sedang malas cari tahu).
Film ini sudah menjadi nominasi favorit di Golden Globe 2009, Dan dengan berat hati yang menarik dukungan dari Quentin Tarantino dengan Inglorious Basterds dan mengalihkannya James Cameron dengan Avatar untuk Best Movie dan Best Director (berlaku untuk semua award musim ini).
Jejeran cast untuk film ini umumnya bukan bintang besar (salah satu kebiasaan lain dari sang sutradara). Lead role: Sam Worthington (Terminator Salvation), Zoe Saldana (Star Trek).
Beberapa pemeran sama sekali tidak muncul wajahnya di film dan digantikan oleh CGI, seperti Zoe Saldana dan para pemeran Na'vi lainnya.
Catchy line. Dulu Cameron membuat 'you jump, I jump' begitu terkenal, sekarang muncul 'i see you'.
Original song-nya keren mampus! Judulnya 'i see you' dibawakan oleh Leona Lewis. Suprisingly her melancholy voice really suit the song! I bet it will be the next 'my heart will go on'.
I compare it too much with Titanic. My fault! But how can I help it? His plot-pattern is too recognizable.
Favourite scene: when Neytiri meet Jake in his human form for the first time.

My Goal???

Everything so grey lately, first: it always rain :( , second: I walk without direction!

21 years, and still dunno where I want to bring my life to. The last 17 years, I have school. I don't have to think what I want to do next year, because there'll always be school! New semester, new grade, new class, new teacher, new subject, new school... But still, there's school! So, should I go back to school?

I have a promise to my parent, unspoken promise, that I will take master... Whenever it will be. Then is it the right time?

Instantly, I will answer: Yes! I work in a place where I NEED more than what I had learned at college, and once again school is the lighten up my grey future.

But, in actual I will answer: NO! I just start my job, school just my expensive-runaway, and yes, it is really expensive! And do I have enough money? No! Do I have the courage to ask my father's help? BIG NO! I won't put my parent to another hard-work-to-pay-tuition anymore. I always feel thankful for what my parent has done to send me to college, but still, it doesn't mean that it's not torture me! The last four year was enough sacrifice from them, now is time for them to happy living and rest more.

So, I choose the actual answer. School maybe a perfect getaway, but I just don't feel I fight enough with what I have today. Just have to give more effort. I'll go back to school someday, but not now, I still have a battle to win!

New Bag Organizer

I ordered this Large-size-khaki bag organizer from Tasprint last week. Due to some mis-organizing in the ordering system, my order slipped. I directly asked the seller so they realize that my order slipped. They apologize and immediately send my order... And voila, it's arrived today!

It much smaller than I predicted, but not too small, actually it is in the proper size for almost woman bag in the market. This product is very helpful for me, whose bag is all shapeless :D

Shut Up and Let Me Go

The Week

I'm in the mellow-mood this entire week. And I listened 'Never Again' by Justin Timberlake 30 times in two days! Ugh...

Resisting the urge to shout and holding my anger is not my best point, on contrary it's so bad for me... I had headache every night since, and it hurts my self esteem too.

Me and my kosan-friend has got Gossip Girl fever, we watch it over and over and never get bored. We all agree that Blair is amazing and there's nothing good in Serena except for her body. We're team B!

Ayu got new haircut! It's shorter and fresher than before. People said she looks like Miyabi and Sherina now... but I don't agree, Ayu is much prettier for me... hehehe...

I go to the dentist yesterday, and for the first time in my life I paid 7 digit amount for medical-thing! I have this 'gak-ikhlas' feeling since then...

My kakak-ketemu-gede has accepted to the company, we're under the same employer now :)

It's been a month since the last time I met my family, I miss them so much :(

Sometimes I accidentally hurt people. I never regret it, but I hate myself more everytime it's done. And the worst, everyone just love to judge me on this. Yes, I'm a hateful person, thank you for remind me all the time.

The Secret Code

I GOT IT!!!

Me, Ditha, Ayu & Cita pre-order this DVD of Tohoshinki/TVXQ The Secret Code Tour Final at Tokyo Dome almost 2 months ago. Finally it arrived last week, and I received it yesterday. Dance!Dance!Dance!

I know for quite long time that they're great singers and dancers, but I can't help myself from being over excited of their performance! Every member get their own solo performance except Yuchun & JJ, they do their duet of Colors, Melody & Harmony here. Both Junsu & Yunho do their same solo performance as Mirotic concert, the one that surprised me is Changmin. He sing Wild Soul, one of not-so-my-favourite song, but he did it great! The performance deliver in a Jrock-style, with rocker outfit, big focus on the band, and fire-play-blast... Woaaa... It really reminds me of common jrock band performance, ALL HAIL THE MAKNAE!!!

I watch the full show yesterday with my kosan-friend, and of course if you watch Toho with other Toho fans, the crazy fangirl within you awaken, we screams together at certain scenes hehehe...

Great show! And expensive too, but it worth every yen :p

Classic Chrisye - A Night to Remember

Remember back when I was little, when my sister ask for Trio Kwek-kwek, Agnes Monica and other children singer's cassette, I ask for Chrisye. I never know the title of every songs I heard at that time, all I know is his voice makes me calm :)

Last night, a new check for my list-to-do-when-you-still-alive : watching twilite orchestra LIVE! Plus it is all Chrisye's song with all that wonderful performer. From the younger one: Wisanggeni with Lilin-Lilin Kecil as opening. Then Sherina, she's flawless! I never saw someone at her age sing so effortless, it's like everytime she open her mouth just the best chord out. And Afgan, hmmm... all I can tell is he's fine, and there are some ABG that always scream everytime he presents, especially the one that sat behind me... ok, what should we call them? my friend give one suggestion, what about Afgan-istan?!?!?! kekekekeke...

Then the senior one, Vina Panduwinata, how old she is??? because I can't believe how she can still sing stunningly! I can't imagine how she like at her peak point, she's amazing. Then the Armand-Budjana-Addie MS performance, BUDJANA!!! I still want to scream his name out loud! Addie MS is really great at composition, from the collaboration with I Gusti Kompyang Raka in the beginning then his piano performance with Armand at vocal and Budjana at guitar, he's great, he's amazing, one of the best composer in Indonesia, and he's Kevin's father :D (forget this one ok?? kekekeke...)

Over all, it is a GREAT concert. The minus part is the Event Organizer, Merah Putih Showbiz -_-
The show is an hour late, not to mention the opening is not so smooth and the stage management is poor! I once a stage manager, so I can tell if someone do it poorly, and they do it poorly!

Moving

I moved to new place last weekend...
The new place is further to my office than the old one. It takes 30 minutes via bus and maybe about 40 minutes on foot, quite challenging for me to wake up early in the morning
My room is next to Ditha. Makes us easier to share latest video of any japan-korean-thing, and give me friend to channel my mati-gaya-mode
The new place is close to Setiabudi One, another place to channel my mati-gaya-mode, esp. when Starbucks Setiabudi is one of my favourite mojok spot
It's a big kosan. Two-story house, with 12 rooms in every floor. It's all-girl kosan, give me a bunch of new friends
It takes me 2 full day to move all my things to new place. I ask Dika for help to move it all, and I think he got a back-ache
It just needs 6 months to multiply 1 box-2 luggages-and-a-bookshelf to 4 boxes-3 luggages-and-2 bookshelf plus several other things. Now I realize where my monthly salary go
My body suddenly pegel-pegel after all the moving and decor-ing my new place, now I know how it feel to be a kuli-angkut
I commit to myself that next time I move, the new place has to be an apartment-type, fighting!

My first purchase from Etsy has arrived. it is tri-fold card holder by Cassy Lain Totes and Boho Leather and Ribbon cuff by Baroque and Roll Cuff. I like it very much!!
